TASTEE FRIED CHICKEN’S MRS. OLAYINKA ADEDAYO THANKS GOD AT 70

The Doyenne of Nigeria’s quick service restaurant business and the Grand Dame behind the popular Tastee Fried Chicken brand, Mrs Olayinka Pamela Adedayo is seventy! And her family and friends are not only excited but are thankful to God.
Known for her special delicacies, Mrs Adedayo broke into the consciousness of Nigerians with the establishment of Tastee Fried Chicken (TFC) where she developed her own finger-linking style of fried, grilled, baked, smoked and chicken in a sauce along with other unique recipes. The meals were so well packaged and delicious that its pay off-line “We Do Chicken Right” became the sing-song in many households. Little wonder many refer to her as “Mama Tastee” or Mama Oluwabunmi.
In no time, her commitment to the brand grew into an obsession, and this eventually led to an explosion. Thus from its first outlet at 61 Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos, Tastee Fried Chicken branches began to spring up across Lagos and other parts of Nigeria.
Thoughts of the life changing moment of that beautiful night in December 1971, when I took the decisive step of proposing to you, flash through my mind. I cannot help but be grateful to God that you did not turn me away as I poured out my heart to you on Jebba Street, Ebute-Metta in the presence of your brother and my own pal, Yomi. This memory will forever be cherished and refreshed as I bask daily in the love that you are to me
In you, I call home and there is nowhere else I would rather be, than by your side, my dearest, because you complete me in every way. And oh yes! You gave me love; you have given me love; and you continue to give tirelessly; sacrificing yourself for my happiness. In you, I make my boast, to say that I made the best choice and was blessed with true love.
Olayinka, these words do not convey to you how much of yourself you give to others and how deeply you are appreciated. You have been and are a wonderful WIFE to me, a perfect MOTHER to our Beloved Oluwabunmi & Oluwayemisi, and an endearing GRANDMA to Iyanuoluwayimika and Morolaoluwa. We genuinely cherish you in our lives, my dearest.
Ayinkus, as I fondly call you, is “my balance to life”. You have in various ways leveled out my inadequacies and complemented me. When I am weak, you are strong for us; when I am about to make salient decisions, you are right there to avail me with a balanced view of things through your candid advice. You are so full of wisdom that I never stop being amazed that for your age, you are already overflowing with the wisdom of the old, which is one of the reasons we are thriving well in the business we started together right from inception.
My dearest Yinka, you are a significant part of all that is good in “our world” and a positive contributor to my success. Your honesty, transparency and wonderful virtues give me the confidence to take on life without fear. You have also helped to turn the dreams of several people into reality. Indeed you have proven the saying that the best use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts it.

AT THE REGAL AND COLOURFUL CORONATION OF ONIRU OF IRULAND, OBA ABDULWASIU OMOGBOLAHAN LAWAL IN VICTORIA ISLAND, LAGOS

Iru Kingdom, located in Victoria Island, Lagos was thrown into mourning on September 19, 2019 when Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru passed on at the age of 82, but eight months later after a thorough search and healthy competition, sadness turned to joy with the announcement that urbane and astute public servant, Prince Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal of the Abisogun and Akiogun Ruling Houses will be new Monarch.

The announcement by the government was followed with a formal presentation of staff of office and instrument of appointment by Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, making Oba Lawal, who will be known as Abisogun II, the 15th Oniru of Iruland.

Though many traditional rites had been carried out, the ceremonies were rounded off with a spectacular coronation event that was upscale and regal. It was filled with a rich display of the kingdom’s culture and tradition.

Held at the expansive Oniru Palace, the event was attended by Lagos high society including Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat,  former Lagos Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Oba Saheed Elegushi, The Elegushi of Ikateland, Lagos First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, Chief Rasak Okoya and wife, Chief ( Mrs.) Folashade, HRM Oba Aromire, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi and husband, Rev. Ademuyiwa Ajayi, HRM Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and HRM Oba Lateef Adams. The event had three segments: Prayer session, Speeches session and the Fun Session.

What was termed a very historic day in the life of the kingdom began with a special prayer session led by Islamic clerics. The new monarch was showered with prayers by many and there were also prayers for the continuous development of the community.

Thereafter, the new Oba who was joined by his gorgeous and graceful wife, Olori Maryam, in his full regalia, complete with beaded crown and instrument of office, took centre stage.

An elated Oba Lawal stated “Today begins another significant chapter in the annals of our dear Iruland as well as my life’s journey. Personally, this brings to my mind the complexity of life as espoused by Garth Nix who said and I quote “Does the Walker choose the path, or the path, the walker”. I am convinced that all these were in the pre-determined plans of Almighty Allah, who makes us as pencils in His magnificent hands.

“I started from the Palace in 1977 precisely, then went out of the Palace, and Lagos to other places, only now to arrive back here in the palace where I will remain until I join my ancestor”

Oba Lawal paid glowing tribute to his late dad, Chief Taurid Omobolaji Lawal-Akapo, Ojora of Lagos (1977-1993) and his sweet mother, Olori Kemi Lawal Akapo for their special love and strict upbringing which had helped him over the years.

While expressing his deepest appreciation for all the encomiums and prayers showered on him since he was named the Oniru, Oba Lawal, a three-time member of the State Executive Council, went ahead to unveil his economic development plan for the kingdom, titled:  Let’s Develop Iruland Together condensed in the acronym “LeGIt”.

In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by his Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat described traditional institutions as “indispensable branch” of Yoruba society, stressing that the socio-economic growth witnessed in Iru Kingdom in the last two decades had contributed in no small measure to the development of Lagos.

Mr Governor commended the monarch for keeping peace and for sustaining the effort to unite members of the royal families after ascending the throne.

The Governor said he looked forward to more rewarding development activities in Iru land, but urged residents to rally round the Oniru and maintain peace in order to achieve the monarch’s outlined objectives.

Sanwo-Olu said he had absolute confidence in the leadership ability of Oba Lawal to transform the kingdom into a 21st century city of commerce and culture, urging him to bring his wealth of experience in public service to bear in the administration of Iru land.

According to the Governor “During the installation ceremony in June, I enjoined the Oniru to strengthen the existing bond of unity within Iru land for the overall development of peace and progress of this kingdom. Two months on the throne, I’m pleased to note that the monarch took this advice to heart as exemplified by his very impressive actions characterised by wisdom, knowledge and large heartedness.

The speech making segment was rounded off by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who eulogized the monarch and called for unity among Lagosians.

Thereafter, the venue exploded into a full party scene with good music, choice beverages and gourmet dishes flowing freely till late into the night.

The Oniru was born in 1970 to late Chief T. A. Lawal- Akapo, the Ojora of Lagos (1977-1993) and Olori M. A. Lawal-Akapo. Gbolahan is a Lagos Prince from the Ojora, Aromire, Shokun and Abisogun branch of Oniru Royal families of Lagos State.

Lawal started his career as a Scientific Officer with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council at the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in 1994. He later joined The Nigeria Police Force and was commissioned as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent. He was once ADC to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

CHIEF (SIR) GABRIEL OSAWARU IGBINEDION CELEBRATES 86TH BIRTHDAY IN GRAND STYLE

Just as he has been doing for many years now, influential business titan and Esama of Benin Kingdom, His Excellency Sir (Chief) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion literarily shut down Benin City, the capital of Edo State when he celebrated his 86th birthday.

The ever stylish and colourful Esama, who never settles for anything but the very best, despite scaling down festivities due to the global COVID-19 pandemic still attracted hundreds of thousands in the course of the week-long celebration.

This year, Chief Igbinedion began his programme with an intellectually-stimulating birthday lecture on September 3, 2020 at Nigeria’s  numero uno private university, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.

The Guest lecturer was none other than His Excellency Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, former Governor of Gombe State who spoke on the topic “ “Globalisation and the future of Tertiary Education in Nigeria”

According to the Guest Lecturer “To be invited to deliver the 86th Birthday Lecture of this distinguished and illustrious Son of Africa, His Excellency Sir Chief (Dr.) Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom is indeed to me, aunique privilege and an honour. I thank the authorities of the Igbinedion University especially The Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and the Governing Council, Vice Chancellor, Senate and Congregation, the Academic community, the Administrative staff and all the students of this university for this recognition, I am deeply honoured to have been invited to join you on this auspicious occasion of the 86th Birthday Celebration of the Esama of the Universe of Igbinedion UniversityOkada.”.

Today’s lecture is captured “Globalization and the Future of Tertiary Education in Nigeria”. The choice of this Birthday Lecture topic is quite deliberate and highly instructive. First, the celebrant is an international business colossus, great patriot, educationalist, philanthropist and pathfinder. He has been operating businesses at a global level for several decades before the concept and issue of globalization began to gain worldwide attention. He, in a way, is a globalized person including in marriage.

He then went on to explore such sub-topics as: Nigeria educational policies, current educational policies, history of globalization, the impact of globalization, cross border education, mobility of students and lecturers, the Push Factor, future takeaways and deliverables and then rounded off thus: “In Nigeria today, most of our best eleven are professionals and expatriates working in different parts of the world in which significant number got there via internationalization or globalization. Nigeria must therefore design some deliberate policies to combat theattrition rate by putting in place a reward mechanism for those thatchoose to return, improve the quality and standard of education in thecountry to world class status and erect some international bureaucratic barriers that could discourage foreign studies and enhance effective utilisation of human mental resources within the knowledge economy.

An empirical validation of actual number of Nigerians lost through this phenomenon and an understanding of the real push-pull factors shouldbe carried out and investigated.

“ I congratulate the celebrant, the Great Esama of Bini Kingdom, his family and friends on this day of joy. For the Celebrant today, I cannot resist saying my favourite prayer for you; as your days, so shall yourstrength, your wisdom and favour with God Insha Allah.

EX BEAUTY QUEEN NIKE OSHINOWO SPEAKS EXCLUSIVELY TO OVATION ABOUT LIFE, LOVE AND TURNING 55

Whatever time of the day and whichever part of the world you meet Adenike Asabi Oshinowo popularly known as Nike Oshinowo, you cannot but be wowed. Her beauty is that real and timeless.

Raised in Ibadan and London, the lady once described by a celebrity journal as the sexiest woman alive has moved from being a beauty queen, restaurateur, fitness expert to pageant organizer, traditional title holder, wife and mother.

Ever since she entered our consciousness in the early 90s as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 90/91, she has continued to be a newsmaker. Though she hardly speaks, any time she does, she never fails to impress with her intellectual depth and candor.

In this special interview to mark her 55th birthday, Nike Oshinowo opens up about life, love and future plans.

What has been happening to Nike Oshinowo, you just dropped off the radar

I don’t know about dropping off the radar (Laughs heartily)

I needed to figure out where my true priorities laid. I had these two precious gifts I had been given – My Twins ; and I very much wanted to be part of their lives: fully.

Being a ‘celebrity’ mum or a Society mum or even a ‘Yummy Mummy’ just didn’t have much appeal to me.

As in all other situations, something’s gotta give . In my case what went was the partying and the social butterfly aspect of my lifestyle!

Is it true you now live permanently in the UK. If so what happened

My twins now attend Prep School in the UK and I want to be with them.

So I commute.

I essentially live in both countries -Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

It made for a heck of a lot of flying Pre COVID-19.

Like everyone else, I’m having to reevaluate our Pre pandemic lifestyle and make the necessary adjustments.

It is what it is.

Many years after you were a beauty queen, you tried to revamp the Beauty Pageant business. Tell us about that experience

Yes I ran the Miss Nigeria Pageant for a period of three years when its parent company- The Daily Times of Nigeria was taken over by Folio Communications.

During my three year stint, we were able to successfully rebrand the pageant and also successfully organized two shows.

That period remains the most hectic period of my life. My team and I toured Nigeria in a bid to reintroduce the Miss Nigeria brand to the Nation.

We garnered a phenomenal amount of support from both the people and the Nigerian Press which eventually translated into sponsorship deals.

But seriously, I don’t think I slept a wink in those three years !

Who are your role models and why

Sadly, I no longer look for or look to or even believe in role models.

We’re all such imperfect and complex beings…

Growing up my role models varied from Diana Ross and Princess Diana to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis , Mother Theresa and my mother .Then you read thier Biographies and disappointment sets in.

Now I find inspiration in everyday people and everyday occurrences. In the simplicity of nature and creation. Even in my 7year olds. Their adaptability and can do spirit. I’ve learnt a lot from them. It’s rather humbling….

I am told you will be 55, wow. How does it feel to be just 5 years away from 60

I’m 55 in December. In fact , by the time this publication is out I’ll officially be 55years old !

I love being 55. I love that I’m being given  the opportunity to live a completely different life from what I had before . It is a huge privilege and I’m beyond grateful.

I look forward to what 60years of age brings. Hopefully it will include good health and an abundance of Grace.

What are the key things you have learnt from life at 50

Just one very big lesson: That it’s ok to do it My Way !I’ve torn up the rule books and I’m just living the way I choose.

This is no flattery, you look stunning for your age. Let us into your beauty secret.

The first thing I noticed when I saw the pictures from the photo shoot was how much ‘lockdown weight’ I was still carrying.

And I’m ok with it.

The secret is : There is no secret.

I often sleep in my makeup because I’m too tired to wash my face before I fall into bed at night!

I eat all the things I’m not supposed to albeit in moderation.

I live simply and enjoy my life. Fortunately that involves exercise-a fair amount of walking and jogging.

In Lagos I jog across the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge at 6 every morning. In the UK, I walk and run in Ashdown Forest .

How will you describe your personal style

Simple, comfortable but always elegant.

THE REGAL WEDDING OF ADESEKEMI ADEREMI AND ANTHONY ATUCHE IN LAGOS

It was regal, it was glitzy and glamorous. In deed, it was the numero uno ceremony of that period in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital when Adesekemi Aderemi and Anthony Atuche united in marriage.

Similarly well-educated and from a privileged background, Anthony Atuche schooled at the historic St Edmund’s College, England’s oldest Catholic school, before attending the prestigious Imperial College , London. The ceremony was an exhibition of culture and class.
What made the occasion spectacular was that despite the fact that the couple are from different ethnic groups and cultures, the conviviality and air of friendship at the venue was really heart-warming.Little wonder that everyone confessed that they had loads of fun.
A few days later, the lovebirds affirmed their love with holy solemnisation at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Victoria Island.
The beautiful bride, was so elated & joyous as she exchanged “I do’s” with her dashing & soft-spoken husband.

GONE TOO SOON

Story by Michael Effiong

The outpouring of grief was overwhelming. Nothing could have prepared Nigerians, indeed the world, for the shocker that erupted on Sunday, June 14, 2020 when news filtered in that top event planner, amazing angel and wondrous personality, Ibidunni Olajumoke Ighodalo, owner of famous, Elizabeth R Limited had died.

For many, the news was unbelievable. How could she die? Some people queried. It is not possible? Others screamed. Is she not the one that was playing with her husband, Pastor Ituah, the other day on instagram as she was embarking on a trip?

Was she not the one in a video who struggled and climbed hills, cutting through bushes to her father’s graveside?

It all seemed untrue, it all seemed so surreal- when it dawned on everyone that the story was true, the whole country, indeed, the world was thrown into mourning!

Instagram, twitter, all other social media platforms were on fire. #ibidunighodalo and #tributetoibidunighodalo hashtags trended for days. Popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi released a moving song and celebrated photographer, TY Bello released their last conversation, gradually everyone began to publish their own personal encounters, torrents of tributes flooded cyberspace.

Many who did not know her could relate, when they were told that she is the same woman behind Elizabeth R, the company that lit up Lagos some years, the company that has been everywhere mounting Isolation Centres and involved in major events.

It was obvious that she was a friend to all. She was described as fearless, respectful, hard working, a doting mother, a compassionate philanthropist, a passionate Christian and loving wife. She wore so many caps, played many roles but surprisingly, like a skilled performer, she played all her parts so well, so efficiently, as to earn applause.

Ibidunni represented many things to different people:  The high, the middle, the low. She cut across age brackets, and built bridges across religious or ethnic barriers, she was a star that shone brightly where ever she went.

Though just 39, she had made great impact while alive, and in her death more impact is being made as her foundation and engagements like the Timeless Women have vowed to keep the flag flying and the fire burning.

Talking of her age, she would have been 40 years on earth on Sunday, July 19th and as revealed by TY Bello, all she wanted was to sponsor 40 women through their fertility challenges, what a wonderful soul! Ibidun was so popular because her life was an open book, she shared her trials and triumphs, her pain and gain, according to her, by sharing her story, she believed, it will help others learn valuable lessons. It was in a bid to expand the conversation that led to the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation.

Talking about her Foundation, she stated ” It was born out of pain, when you get married you expect to just start having children, and everything just will work fine. First year you are not pregnant…I just thought, it would come, it would come”. She waited 11 years and endured 11 IVFs”

According to her ” I just woke up one morning on my birthday, I usually have this thing I do on my birthdays, I sit down, I pray, and have a conversation with God. And I said to Him. “You know what, I am not doing this IVF thing again. How you’re going to do it, I do not know and I do not care but I am trusting you completely. And I heard something. “In the meantime, just go ahead and help as many people as you can”

“I felt life, I felt like, this was why I was born. And the meaning of my name, Ibidunni, “sweet to give birth”, “sweet to have”, came flooding through my head. And I just decided to trust God. That conversation led to this Foundation” The Foundation has since revved into action and has even won laurels. And though she had planned not to have a birthday, her 40th will be marked with glitz and glamour at a global worship concert. The event will see top stars like Ron Kenoly, Tope Alabi, TY Bello, Muyiwa Olanrewaju, Kunle Ayo, BJ Sax, Efe Nathan, Mike Aremu, Sammie Okposo, Tosin Alao, Yetunde Are, Seyi Ajayi and more performing.

From Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,  Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to Africa’s riches man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi and her husband, Dr Ademuyiwa Ajayi, Ovation Chairman, Bashorun Dele Momodu, Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, it has been an outpouring condolence visits, tributes and phone calls since her death was confirmed.

The Ikoyi, Lagos home of her husband, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo was  bombarded daily by well wishers, church members and men of God who wanted to comfort him in this moment of sadness and grief. After the dust settled, with Asue Ighodalo, Dr Kweku Tandoh, Pastor Robert Omole, Pastor Bayo Rotimi, Pastor Niyi Akenzua, Pastor Tosin Alao, Chike Ogeah and Afolabi Oke as members of a Committee, plans began to take shape for her funeral.

The first event was a Praise Night and it was held at the home of Pastor Ituah. It was an evening of soulful worship, praise and prayers to God for the life of Ibidun, who many confirmed, came, saw and conquered. The members of Trinity House, the Church which Pastor Ituah serves as Pastor came out in full force to celebrate the lady who not only worked in the vineyard of the Lord but was family. After that evening’s event, the funeral ceremonies shifted to the hall of Deinde Harrison’s Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi where a Night of Tributes was to be held.

The venue as expected, was creatively transformed to make it heavenly and convivial. It was a very restricted event because the family wanted to stick to the COVID-19 Protocol. Of course, Ovation International was granted full access to cover the event and we beamed it live on all our platforms to world, as well as have the pictures to keep for posterity. The event itself had Pastor Bayo Rotimi as compere, there were a few in-person presentation of tributes, but many were via the Zoom platform.

From Mrs Titi Adenuga, wife of Globacom Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jnr. to Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, Pastor Femi Atoyebi, Hakeem Muri-Okunola and Pastor & Mrs Paul Adefarasin to Ibidun’s cousin, Dr. Ben Adeyemi, aide, Jennifer Bello, Co-founder of Sahara Energy, Tope Shonubi to Mrs Tosin Bakare, the world was regaled with the excellent history of Ibidun. We were given different aspects of her life: Her work life, her Christian life and her private life.  The most emotional tribute of the evening was from Ibidun’s daughter, Unuakemonyi (Keke), it moved many to tears!

But one thing was clear, Ibidun Ighodalo lived a life that was action-packed, purpose-driven and God-ordained. She had left the world like a candle in the wind, and only her memories remain. Her Saturday, June 21, 2020 burial was a spectacular affair.  It was as expected, co-ordinated by Trinity House, Zion Centre and Elizabeth R. Mrs Bola Okoli of Bonix and many other personalities in the event business were on ground to offer a helping hand. The day was bright and beautiful and was fitting for the farewell service for such a beautiful angel.

There was a short lying in-state and prayer session at the family house before her remains, which laid in casket. draped in a special flag with the Trinity House insignia emblazoned on it, was ferried in a see-through hearse to the Ebony Vault. The funeral cortege was made of strictly family members because again, due to COVID-19, only a select number of guests were invited while it was beamed live on Arise TV as well as social media platforms of Trinity House and Ovation TV.

By the time the cortege arrived the Ebony Vaults for the funeral service, Mr Asue Ighodalo was waiting, he received his brother and family, placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, as the pall bearers took the remains of the departed out of the hearse, and taking careful, measured, ceremonial and well-choreographed steps, moved her casket to the bowels of the hall as the processional hymn “For All The Saints Through All Their Labour’s Rest” wafted from all corners of the hall.

Already, a few of the people in the audience had begun to shed tears, maybe they had been living in denial, but it was no film trick, Ibidun was no more and was about to make her final journey home. Pastor Bayo Rotimi again was compere and he handled proceedings expertly.  After a short worship session by Emmanuel and Chinwe of Trinity Voices, Prof Konyisola Ajayi, SAN was invited to pray for the businesses and causes that Ibidun founded, had significant passion for and was leaving behind.

Thereafter, Mrs Iheoma Okoroafor of Timeless Women, a group the departed Ibidun founded, took centre stage. She revealed how Ibidun was always joyous at the birth of a child from the support of her foundation. Then Keke, who seemed to have emulated the trait of having supreme confidence from her mother, took the second Bible reading taken from Psalm 112.  Thereafter, there was another wondrous rendition of “Sometimes A Light Surprises” by Trinity Voices led by Tosin Alao, before Ibidun’s elder sister, Mrs Nneka Folake Ikejiani was invited to read her biography.

The Trinity voices again took centrestage with a medley of songs, but the spirit in the hall moved a notch higher when they began singing Lara George’s Ijoba Orun. Pastor Ituah was so moved that he not only rose but went on stage to join the singers. He ended his session with the words “Ibidunni I LOVE YOU! There was a short sermon before Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, Special Assistant of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God  (RCCG) was called upon to pray for the family of Ibidun who was described as God’s General. According to Pastor Iluyomade “weeping can only last for a while but surely joy will come in the morning. We are looking forward to days, weeks, months and years of joy for the family”.

The vote of thanks was by Mr. Asue Ighodalo, who described himself as Ibidun’s Twin (They share the same birthday). He took time to carefully and respectfully thank everyone and encouraged all who loved Ibidun to donate to the Ibidun Ighodalo Foundation. The closing prayer was by Pastor Tony Rapu. Immediately he finished, the choir broke into the processional hymn, Abide with me.

As the casket bearing Ibidun’s taken to the graveside, the heavens opened up and there were torrents of rain. This was a clear sign that indeed she has gone to be with the LORD. The graveside activities was only attended by family members and there was no doubt that Ibidun was given a glorious farewell, the kind that she would have packaged for a client.

You Were Our Motivator

-SIBLINGS

As a family we have always been a tower built on a foundation of love, but how does a tower stand without one of its strongest pillars? On the 14th of June 2020 our world shook, immediately, there was an imbalance, and we simply don’t have a list of the to do’s. We didn’t get a chance to plan for this, but here we are, planning for the planner.

As it’s said often, that’s life, an no matter how hard we try to rewind, it is not a rehearsal, and we don’t get second takes. We have to accept that you are gone!!. We are still waiting to be woken up from this bad dream, but the calls…the persistent calls and texts prove that there is nothing but a bad reality.

We ask How?Why? Questions without answers. We are broken but our foundation is in the Lord, so we trust that He knows best. It may not have been our time, but it is your time, You fulfilled your purpose. You know the phrase we always used to testify God’s wonders in our lives; My God of Just Like That! Now we used it from a place of pain. Just like that you came, you saw, you conquered. Just like that… you are gone. Just like that, we now speak of you in the past tense. But your legacy, achievements, struggles, victories, accomplishments, the countless lives you touched and changed…these stories will never be told, “Just Like That”.

My Siisii, D-randy, My bro, My Baby Bro’s names we will never hear you speak again. My Baby Sis, My Motivator, My Protector, Twinny, My Everything, Our Kokoye names we will never say again. You called some of us “Egbon”, you called some of us “Baby” but you pushed each and everyone of us to be better and to excel. You were our motivator; our fierce protector. You taught us to not be part of the crowd by making each of us realise we were our won singular crowd.

You were always there for us, even when you didnt want or need to be. You loved us unconditionally and we loved you unconditionally. For those who know our family, there are simply no words to describe the love, bond and commitment to one another. Whenever we said ” I love you” it ended withAlways and Forever. Forever came to soon Ibidunni, but the “Always” will never change. Rest now Queen.

Your Siblings: Now and Forever

MY DARLING IBIDUNNI, YOUR PASSING IS VERY PAINFUL
“Kokoye” as mummy called you. Where do I begin….Mama Ayo’s last born. You had so much love to give the world! You loved fearlessly!A beautiful soul on the inside and out.
You were only 13 when I was getting married, you were very excited like every little sister would be. I remember you telling me that you wish God gives you a man like Uncle Niyi. Well, He certianly did and He gave you much more.
Truly God sent you amongst us to impact the world, you did it so well!1 Even in death you are still impacting the world. Ibidunni you fulfilled the scrpture Phil 1:21 and ran your race well! God is now saying “Well done my good and faithful servant”
Your passing is very painful, it is heartbreaking and I’m saddened by it. However, I am assured by 1Thess 4:13

Good night my darling Aburo
-Joke Adewunmi

THANK YOU KOKOYE FOR SHARING YOUR  HEART

KOKOYE,
If one could wresle death I would have, even if it will cost my life instead of yours. You left so abruptly, yet with so many beautiful memories to share and cherish forever!
You were so dear, no matter when I need you, you were always near.
You gave us all you had to give, but most of all, you gave us love
The greatest gift of all (1 Cor 13: 13)

PRESIDENT BUHARI TO PASTOR ITUAH IGHODALO “I SHARE YOUR PAIN”

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has expressed shock at the death of Mrs Ibidun Ituah-Ighodalo, wife of Pastor Ituah Oghodalo of Trinity House, Lagos

In his condolence message, President Buhari said he shared the pain and sorrow of the family at the sudden death, and prayed God’s comfort for the entire family, friends and members of Trinity House.

According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari recalled that Pastor Ighodalo is one person who faithfully prays for the country and the government, noting that he sent him a personal letter of condolence when his former Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, passed away in April.
“Please accept my condolences. May God give you the fortitude to bear the loss, and strengthen you at this trying time,” President Buhari said.

YOU LEFT A MARK -Ruth Osime

IBIDUN: It is as if you could see into the future. The way you lived your life. The way you touched everyone that encountered you. The joy you brought into the lives of many. The sadness within you at a point that you masked with smiles and laughter.

The way God now blessed you with not one but two children. The videos you posted showing the depth of love between you and your husband. The way you worked like a machine and found favour in His eyes, even in the midst of hopelessness in the land.
IBIDUN… You saw what we  could not see. You came, you conquered, you departed. Who will fill this yawning gap you have left behind? Who will comfort Ituah or give solace to your beautiful children? Those that cry at your passing will console themselves with how you touched  their lives.
Everyone has a story to tell involving you. Everyone remembers one incident or the other. You left a mark. Did you know your time will be this short? Is that why you came like a shooting star and left when your ovation was at the loudest? You will remain cherished in our hearts

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things have passed away”. Revelation 21:4

There are no words strong enough to comfort someone on the death of their loved one. But we would continue to commit them unto the hands of God who is the ultimate healer and comforter.

My prayer is that Mrs. Ibidun Ighodalo rests in peace, and that God continues to abide with Pastor Ituah and their loved ones. Amen.”
