Stars and filmmakers came together at the Paramount Studios in Los Angeles to celebrate the latest animated version of “Smurfs,” which opens in theaters on July 18.
Attendees from the film who graced the blue carpet included singer, songwriter, actress, business entrepreneur and philanthropist Rihanna, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña and Marshmello.
It’s a comic franchise centered on a fictional colony where small, blue, humanoid creatures live in mushroom-shaped houses in the forest. Peyo, a Belgian artist, created and introduced the characters in a series of comics in 1958. Since then, it has spanned several movies.
Directed by Chris Miller, this latest adaptation follows Smurfette (voiced by nine-time Grammy Award winner, Rihanna) as she leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save Papa Smurf (John Goodman) after he is kidnapped the by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel.
Rihanna, the star of the movie, who is expecting her 3rd child, attended with her two boys, RZA and Riot Rose.
I am really excited to see what my kids think. I hope they like it and I am looking forward to their reaction when they hear my voice.” she shared on the blue carpet.
“Smurfs,” opens in theaters in the US on Friday.
